Vocal Evolution is a male vocal harmony chorus based in Perth, Western Australia that has been wowing audiences since 2002.
The group was started by a bunch of ordinary guys who simply wanted to sing in an entertaining and technically excellent ensemble. True to their name, Vocal Evolution has continued to grow musically and artistically to become one of Australia's best vocal harmony groups.
Participating in competition has always been a part of the life of the group as it provides a benchmark of singing progress and Vocal Evolution had success from the start achieving a bronze and then two silver medals respectively in the AAMBS National Chorus Contests of 2003, 2005 and 2007. Along the way they also won sections of various local eisteddfodau as well as second place in the state final of the ABC Classic FM Choir of the Year Contest in 2006.
In Hobart, Tasmania in 2009 Vocal Evolution, led by Music Director Alex Morris, were awarded the gold medal at the AAMBS National Open Chorus Contest. With this title came the invitation to represent Australia at international competition which they are aiming to fulfill when they travel to the USA in July 2011.
Vocal Evolution have sung in a variety of settings including corporate events, self-produced shows and on large concert events supporting entertainers such as Jimmy Barnes and David Campbell and on national television appearing on Australia's Got Talent. The group's wide appeal comes from a combination of popular repertoire delivered with a passion and joy that reflects the enjoyment each singer gets from performing the soaring four-part harmony arrangements.
Vocal Evolution is made up of around 30 singers of all ages from all walks of life and are always looking for more men to join them on the risers. This year Vocal Evolution have been working on an all new repertoire which they will present in various concerts. They will also deliver their long-awaited debut CD to the public in October.
