At the end of September 2017 Vocal Evolution travelled to Sydney to participate in the Pan Pacific Barbershop convention, along with choruses from New Zealand and Japan. As the retiring Australian champions we were only eligible to compete in the Pan Pacific competition, and we were very pleased to come third and win the bronze medal. We also had the privilege of performing in both the John LIttle Show and the Showcase of Champions, alongside some amazing choruses and quartets. |
Vocal Evolution have just finished a successful run of their "Fun House" show at the Perth Fringe festival. More than a thousand people saw the show over the seven performances, including a couple of sold out shows. One of these sell-outs was the show held at the Leaping Frog in Joondalup, all the other shows having been performed at the Comedy Shack in Northbridge. |
At the BHA Convention in Newcastle this weekend, Vocal Evolution won the open chorus competition to become the National Champions for 2016. We are thrilled to have achieved this in the face of exceptional performances from several other choruses, particularly considering that we had had to change one of our songs only four weeks ago due to a copyright issue. |
Vocal Evolution has just returned from Melbourne, where they competed with 19 other choruses from around Australia for the BHA Championship. They won the large chorus trophy, and placed third overall to win the bronze medal, behind Sound Connection (from Brisbane) who won gold, and the Festival Statesmen (from Adelaide) who won silver. On top of the chorus success, the quartet competition was won by Lockout, which was one of seven competing quartets containing members of Vocal Evolution. We are immensely proud of these singers, and are sure that they will go on to do great things in the future. |
Below is the feedback we received after our concert/workshop/open rehearsal visit at Helena College on Monday 31st August. Well done everyone!
Wow - what a successful night. The students have not stopped raving to their teachers about how much fun they had! Teachers who weren’t even there have been telling me how the choir students are telling everyone how awesome it was. One Mum told me her daughter went home and spent an hour at the piano singing until she was forced to go to bed! Our Executive team who were in the from row behind VE have commented what an amazing opportunity for our choir to see such professionals. Personally, my 15 year old son has decided he is now going to join choir.
I’m sure this will open many doors for our choir and students who would not have been given this exposure if it wasn’t for your group.
Thank you so much for coming all the way up the hill to our little school. You really were an inspiration. We wish you every success at your upcoming competition.
Kind Regards
Mrs Ruth Gallagher
Instrumental Development Programme Coordinator
